Beijing: A nursery school teacher who poisoned 25 students in China has been sentenced to death. A woman named Wang Yun (40) was executed. The incident happened on March 27, 2019 at Mengmeng Kindergarten in Jiaozuo. Children’s food was laced with deadly sodium nitrate.

In the incident, a child who was hospitalized for ten months died due to organ failure. Others recovered. Wang, who dropped out of high school, also poisoned her husband two years ago. The poison was purchased online. But he escaped with minor injuries. Wang was initially sentenced to nine months in prison for willful harassment. Later in September 2020, it was changed to death penalty. Wang’s appeal was rejected by the court.

A notice posted outside the No. 1 Intermediate Court in Jiaozuo, Henan Province said Wang Yun’s sentence had been carried out. A dispute with a colleague led the teacher to such a brutal act.

Attacks on students have become more frequent in China in recent years. Most of the accused are mentally deranged or have grudges once morest individuals or society.

Six people, including children, were killed in an attack on a kindergarten in China last week. A 25-year-old suspect was arrested in the incident.

Private gun ownership is illegal in China, so knives and homemade explosives were used to carry out the attacks.
