Central government “Quickly identify the cause of the accident and take stern censure”

After announcing that it had set up an investigation team for the ‘4/18 fire accident’, the city of Beijing said, “We will scientifically and strictly in accordance with laws and regulations determine the cause of the accident and then prepare a strict accident handling policy.”
The State Council Safety Committee decided to send personnel to Beijing to assist and supervise the investigation and handling of fire accidents.
In this regard, China’s Ministry of Emergency Management said, “We will promptly investigate the cause of the accident and hold it accountable severely.”
Beijing has launched a comprehensive inspection of elderly care institutions and hospitals.
On the 18th, at around 1:00 noon, a fire broke out in Changfeng Clinic, Fengtai District, Beijing, and was extinguished in regarding 30 minutes by the dispatched fire brigade, but 29 people, including patients and nurses, died and 39 others were injured.

Fire authorities estimated that the fire occurred when a spark that occurred during construction inside the hospital was transferred to a combustible material.
The police have booked 12 people, including the director of the hospital and construction workers, and are investigating the cause of the fire.
Videos posted by netizens immediately following the fire, as well as videos and photos of the scene at the time of the fire reported by state media were deleted from the Internet and social media, causing controversy.
