Finding evening wear also involves choosing the right watch, and what better timepiece to get noticed on the dance floor than the latest Behrens Starship II collection with its unusual spaceship design? The dial of the Spaceship II was designed as a three-dimensional sculpture, like a space station floating in the galaxy. At night, it lights up thanks to SuperLumiNova on the Arabic numerals, hands and indexes, thus reinforcing its science fiction aesthetic.
A love for science fiction
Behrens has always been fascinated by space and scientific exploration, whether diving to the bottom of the oceans or exploring the galaxy above our heads. Timepieces such as the Apolar, Consteller, Mars Project, Space Traveler and Star Trek all have alien names and the Behrens Starship II is no exception. This series of futuristic timepieces was designed to celebrate space exploration and represents the pioneering spirit of the brand in terms of mechanics and aesthetics.

When the dial is a spaceship
The dial protrudes from the center in a concave circular structure, while the two skeletonized hands rotate inside an inner circle, indicating the minutes and seconds. The hours are displayed on the outer ring and are read next to an “H” at six o’clock. The watch is housed in a 42mm stainless steel case with a black coating and is available in a choice of seven different colors: red, orange, yellow, black, white, sky blue or mint green. The colors start on the indications of the dial and continue on the “Viton” bracelet. This new bracelet material is very comfortable on the wrist and resists heat, oxidation, oil and corrosion. The bracelet also has a patented quick-change function, which greatly improves its use.

All the details
The Starship II is powered by a Miyota 9 series automatic movement, on which Behrens has built a unique mechanical module that allows the watch to present the time in this three-dimensional and unconventional form. The caseback is engraved with a badge representing a Chinese white dolphin. This animal combines spatial and marine elements to express the idea of protecting the planet, while looking towards the unknown.
Waterproof to 100 meters, the Starship II is a watch that can do it all, and at just under CHF 2,000, you’ll be hard-pressed to find such a fun watch at this price point elsewhere. During the Greek edition of WorldTempus on Tour, the WorldTempus team was able to test it during sightseeing tours in Athens, as well as during a nightclub tour, as these colorful photos eloquently prove.
