Asunción, IP Agency.- About 70 students from the National School «Cnel. Rogelio R. Benítez” participated in an informative talk about the electronic cigarette and its effects on health and the environment.
The talk was carried out by personnel from the Abaí Family Health Unit (USF) within the Government’s SUMAR Plan, against drug abuse.
The activity aims to promote healthy lifestyle habits among young people and prevent the consumption of harmful substances.
On the occasion, 70 students were addressed on topics such as nicotine addiction, the toxic components present in vaping liquids and the respiratory diseases they can trigger.
According to information provided by the National Program for the Control of Smoking and Chronic Respiratory Diseases (PRONATERC), tobacco and its derivatives are the largest cause of preventable death in the world, causing pathologies such as cancer, mainly of the lungs, kidneys, bladders, pancreas. , chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) and/or cardiovascular pathologies.
