More information

‘Someone Tell Me’ was initially not written for him, but for Son By Four: “I say jokingly, but a little seriously, that I “stole” the song. It wasn’t for me and I appropriated it.”

As he remembers, it all happened at a meeting of friends: “Due to an indiscretion on the part of a mutual friend, I found out regarding the song. But when Ómar (Alfanno) gave me my song, it wasn’t ‘Let someone tell me’, it was something else. I claimed, ‘what happened to that song?’ and Alfanno took me out of the meeting and told me: ‘Look, Gilberto, that song is not for you, it’s for the guys from Son By Four.'”

However, once they returned to the meeting, Santa Rosa asked to listen to the song despite not recording it: “When the first chords of the song sounded, I got up, grabbed the CD (…) from the first chords, you might already hear Gilberto Santa Rosa singing.”

Later, he spoke regarding the materialization of the song ‘Perdóname’, since it was born practically by accident: “When they showed it to me, it still didn’t have lyrics, it was just the chorus (…) I said: whatever the song says, give it to me because I need to record a new album,” he recalled.

Once he started recording it, in the studio he came up with the improvisation at the end.

“While live, there was a musical accident: the musicians did not know how the song ended. They told me: ‘keep improvising while we come to an agreement,’” she added.
