This woman will become for a few years the hidden daughter of Gilbert Bécaud before being recognized by her father at the age of 25. When Gilbert Bécaud and Janet Woollacott separated in 1965, Claude François took the decision to take revenge by declaring Jennifer as his daughter at the town hall. Claude François was not an easy man to live with. This is what Janet Woollacott’s best friend, Christine Reynolds, says in the documentary Archives secrets broadcast in September 2022 on France 3. And obviously, the former dancer had a bad experience of her relationship with the singer. “When I knew him, he was really great. He was a nice little guy, very lively and you might see he wanted to get there”. After their honeymoon, their relationship quickly changed. Claude François began to become possessive. “He changed, he became very, very, very jealous. He didn’t want to know her laughing or going out without him.” Worse, to be sure that she does not have fun in his absence, he had even made the decision to “lock her up”.
