Behind the Scalpel: Unveiling the Hidden Dangers of Cosmetic Surgery’s Deadliest Secret

Among the common cosmetic procedures, some women tend to undergo fat transfer, which is usually used to enlarge certain areas of the body. The Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is particularly popular, where fat is extracted from a specific area and injected into the buttocks, at an expensive cost. Now, some doctors tend to perform the cheaper “liquid butt lift,” which uses filler injections to achieve similar results at a fairly cheap cost.

In this regard, plastic and reconstructive surgery consultant, Ash Soni, says that he refuses to perform a “liquid buttock lift” because of the risks associated with it. He explained: “It seems easy for me to perform this operation, but I consciously chose not to do it. “Extreme caution must be taken when dealing with the buttock area due to the complex anatomy of the area.”

He added that puncturing major blood vessels during the injection procedure could lead to serious consequences.

As specialist physician Mervyn Patterson pointed out, “Every injection means that you are one step away from the intensive care unit. “I wouldn’t even think about having this type of operation.”

In 2018, the British Society of Plastic Surgeons advised members to stop performing liquid buttock lift procedures due to high mortality rates.

By 2022, it is recommended that fat be injected superficially and under ultrasound guidance, called “superficial buttock fat filling.”
