What are some of the key influences that have shaped your sound?

that’s a great question! My musical journey has been deeply influenced by a diverse range of artists. I’m drawn to anything that features a strong connection between the vocalist and the drummer – singers like Prince and Aretha Franklin, with thier amazing stage presence and powerful vocal performances, have been huge inspirations. And Bernard “Pretty” Purdie, that legendary drummer, his rhythmic grooves are just mesmerizing.I also love world music, Afro-Cuban, and South American rhythms, which I often incorporate into my own drumming and percussion work.

If there was one song you could listen to for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

That’s a really tough choice! But if I had to pick just one, it would be “Teardrops” by Womack & Womack. The raw emotion, the soulful vocals, the heartbreaking lyrics – it just speaks to me on such a deep level. Every time I listen to it, I feel something profound.

What’s your song-writng process like?

It varies, actually. Sometimes, a melody or a lyric will come to me first, and I’ll build the song around that.Other times, I’ll start with a rhythmic groove on my drums and see where that takes me. I love experimenting with different sounds and textures, blending genres and creating something truly unique.

Do you have a favorite lyric from another artist that really resonates with you?

Yes, I do. It’s from Stephen Stills’ song “Love the One You’re With.” The line “Well, there’s a rose in a fisted glove, And the eagle flies with the dove,” just captures such a lovely paradox, you know? There’s strength and fragility, darkness and light, all woven together. I find that deeply poetic.
