672 migrants arrested, 187 referred. These illegal immigration figures were recorded in 2021.
Senegal has just adopted a political strategy to combat illegal immigration. It was launched yesterday by Prime Minister Amadou Bâ accompanied by his government colleagues first, the Minister of the Interior.

On the occasion, Antoine Félix Diome, giving his speech, gave the figures through the efforts of the national division for the fight against migrant smuggling and similar practices (DNLP) housed within the police department of air and borders. These figures represent the number of migrants, conveyors arrested in this clandestine traffic.
For the year 2021, the Minister of the Interior announced 672 people are arrested. Those who were brought before the investigating judge including 187 people for various offenses related to this practice.
For the whole of 2021, the Minister of the Interior and Public Security indicates that 5 canoes reached the Canary Islands, a decrease of 85% compared to 2020 thanks to the interceptions made and the failed attempts and the resisters to the financing young people because the crisis is not only about security but also about economics.

The Minister of the Interior also pointed out that the curve was maintained until 2022 when several border posts to fight against this deadly phenomenon were built with approved equipment.
