New findings from US journalist <a href="https://www.archyde.com/five-imprudences-committed-by-donald-trump-with-classified-documents/" title="Five imprudences committed by Donald Trump with classified documents”>Bob Woodward about Donald Trump’s contacts with Moscow: The former US president has had several conversations with Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin since leaving office. That’s according to Woodward’s new book “War,” excerpts from which the Washington Post published yesterday.
Trump continues to maintain personal contacts with Putin, despite the two and a half year-long war in Ukraine and despite his candidacy for the presidential election on November 5th.
Woodward quotes an unnamed Trump aide saying he has spoken to Putin up to seven times since the end of his term in 2021. At the beginning of 2024, Trump asked an employee at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida to leave his office so that he could have a private phone call with Putin.
CoV tests sent to Putin
Trump also sent a load of tests to the Russian president during the 2020 CoV pandemic – despite the shortage in his own country. Putin accepted, but advised Trump to keep the delivery secret: “I don’t want you to tell anyone, because then people will be angry with you, not with me,” Putin said to Trump, according to the book.
“War” will be released in the US on October 15, three weeks before the presidential election. Woodward has been reporting on various US presidents for 50 years. In the 1970s, he and his Washington Post colleague Carl Bernstein became world famous through their research into the Watergate wiretapping scandal surrounding President Richard Nixon. Since then, he has repeatedly published investigative books about US presidents, including several about Trump.
Melania’s memoirs were published
Another explosive book was published in the USA yesterday: the memoirs of Trump’s 54-year-old wife Melania. In her 256-page memoir entitled “Melania,” the former First Lady takes a clear position, especially on the issue of abortion – she does not address the many scandals of her husband’s first term in office (2017-2021).
In another passage, Melania expresses doubts about her husband’s election defeat in 2020. The vote counting process was “chaos,” she writes. “Many Americans still have doubts about the election back then. I’m not the only one who doubts the result.”
Analysis: Trump’s Enduring Ties to Putin Revealed in Bob Woodward’s New Book
The latest revelations from renowned US journalist Bob Woodward’s new book, ”War,” have sent shockwaves through the political landscape, shedding light on former President Donald Trump’s continued personal contacts with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Despite leaving office over two and a half years ago, Trump’s conversations with Putin have raised eyebrows and reignited concerns about the nature of their relationship.
According to Woodward’s book, Trump has spoken to Putin multiple times since leaving office, with some reports indicating as many as seven conversations took place [[2]]. These interactions have sparked intense speculation about the motivations behind Trump’s actions and the potential implications for US-Russia relations.
One particularly intriguing detail from Woodward’s book is that Trump sent Covid-19 testing machines to Putin during his presidency, a gesture that some might interpret as a sign of goodwill or even a favor [[3]]. While this act may seem innocuous on the surface, it is essential to consider the broader context of Trump’s presidency, marked by controversy and allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 US election.
These new findings have also resurrected questions about Trump’s ties to Putin, which have long been a subject of scrutiny and debate. As Woodward’s book highlights, the frequency and content of Trump’s conversations with Putin have raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest and the former president’s commitment to US national security.
In a related development, a separate report by CNN shed light on President Joe Biden’s reported use of strong language, which, although seemingly unrelated to the Trump-Putin controversy, serves as a poignant reminder of the vastly different leadership styles and personalities of the two presidents [[1]].
Ultimately, the full extent and implications of Trump’s conversations with Putin remain unclear, and further investigation is necessary to shed more light on this matter. However, one thing is certain: the Biden administration must remain vigilant in navigating the complex and often tumultuous landscape of US-Russia relations.
As we continue to follow this developing story, one thing is clear: the tangled web of Trump’s ties to Putin demands continued scrutiny, and the US public deserves a more complete understanding of these alleged conversations and their potential consequences for national security.
