Domestic violence in Chania has been going on for 50 years, with the children of the family also being victims of the man of the church.
A 74-year-old priest in Chania is accused of domestic violence, threats and many rapes against the elder. Although the case has been learned in the local community, the priest continues to function normally with the Diocese not having deposed him.
The court has already prohibited the priest from approaching his wife, according to zarpanews.gr.
According to the zarpanews.gr the case has now taken the path of justice while a temporary order has already been issued by which the Court forbids the 74-year-old priest from approaching his wife.
However, it took… 50 years to reveal the sufferings of the family described in the case file, as the 64-year-old elder today endured from the age of 14 the violent and jealous nature of her husband, the rapes, the physical violence, the outbursts of anger, the threats and verbal abuse.
Victims of the situation and the children, who, however, only two months ago understood the extent of the abuse when they discovered their mother’s hidden diary.
Torture diary
In her diary, the 64-year-old describes her husband’s pathological jealousy and unbearable suspicion, and violent outbursts against her even for no reason, because, for example, she greeted a neighbor.
He also describes the incidents of abuse, with beatings and frequent rapes.
The children discovered the diary, when two months ago the woman had to be hospitalized in a serious condition. It was then that she broke her silence and asked her children to take legal action to protect her from her priest husband.
Complaints brought threats
It was during the 64-year-old’s hospitalization that the phone call with the daughter took place, during which insults and threats were thrown by the 74-year-old, which were immediately reported to the police. The event was then highlighted by zarpanews.gr (HERE) even though at that point in time the depth of the case was not known.
In the end, the phone threats were only “the tip of the iceberg” as the case is now in the competent Authorities who are investigating it and is expected to be referred competently.
