before PS? Discord feature available on Xbox

Discord is now available within Xbox.

On July 20, 2022, Xbox announced through its official site that Discord voice chat will be available inside the Xbox console. It’s currently available on the Xbox Insider test program, and will soon be updated to make it available to all users.

This update appears to be a follow-up to the Xbox and Discord partnership announced in 2018. At the time, Microsoft updated the ability to link an Xbox Live account with a Discord account.

With this update, you will be able to use the Discord feature on your Xbox with a simple process.

After the news was announced, gamers are paying attention to whether the Discord function will be available on PS in the near future. On May 3, 2021, Sony announced its partnership with Discord, saying, “Our goal is to bring the Discord and PlayStation experience closer together on console and mobile starting early next year.”

Currently, PS supports linking of PSN and Discord accounts, but the ability to use Discord voice chat inside PS has not been announced yet.

However, there was a period of regarding 4 years between the announcement of the partnership between Xbox and Discord and this update. An update to PS’s Discord voice chat feature is likely to take a similarly long time.
