Before kick-off in the Landesliga West: “We will be a surprise bag this year”

After a short but intensive preparation phase including exciting duels in the state cup, the new season in the state league west will kick off tomorrow. After the confident resurgence of Liga-Krösus Bad Schallerbach, the new season promises more excitement at the top of the table. Especially since for the first time this season, the best-placed second of the two state leagues will also have the chance to advance to the Upper Austria league thanks to the relegation. But even behind them, the league should be extremely balanced once more. The OÖN spoke in advance with the five Innviertler Landesliga representatives regarding their goals for the season and assessments.

SPG Schärding
After the runner-up title last season, Schärdinger had to deal with a change in the squad. Seven players left the club, six new ones came. In addition, coach Holger Stemplinger is a new man on the sidelines. “We’re going to be a surprise bag this year,” says sporting director Andreas Michl. Anything is possible between a top placement and a secured rank in midfield. “But the 3-1 victory in the state cup once morest Andorf makes me confident,” says Michl.

SPG Andorf/Sigharting
The people of Andorf can be quite satisfied with the past season and third place. They also want to follow that with their new and old coach Bernhard Straif this season. “A top five finish would be great,” says Section Head Gerald Berger, hoping for a good start to the season. According to Berger, a difficult task awaits once morest Schalchen. For the club, which has always been among the top players in recent years, the state league with its many derbies is generally very attractive. A return to the Upper Austrian league does not and cannot be forced. Everything just has to fit, says Berger.

Union Esternberg
With the Sauwaldvioletchen, the preparation was a bit difficult with a few injured people. The deputy sporting director Klaus Goldberger is correspondingly cautious: “A single-digit place in the table would be great. But we definitely want more than the 36 points we had last season.” After the Cup-Aus once morest Schalchen on Saturday, the full focus is now on the league. With Gmunden, an opponent from the top third of the past season is waiting on the first day of the game.

SV Schalchen
After a modest past season, which ended third from last, Schalchen is looking ahead this year: “We ticked off the past season,” says sporting director Klaus Erkner. With Robert Pessentheiner, an old acquaintance returned to the coaching bench in the last spring rounds. After two changes of coach in the past season, calm should return and subsequently success in Schalchen. “The mood in the team is positive. Our goal is a good midfield position,” says Erkner.

FC Munderfing
The climber returned to the Landesliga following eleven years. “We know where we come from. Our financial resources are limited,” says master trainer Philipp Penninger. The declared goal is therefore to stay in the league. In order to achieve this, the main focus during preparation was on the defensive. The Penninger team can and must prove whether this work bears fruit tomorrow in their comeback at home once morest runner-up Schärding.
