Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the Maybach by Virgil Abloh, a limited edition of 150 luxury cars, so what are the details of this unique collaboration signed by Off-White designer Virgil Abloh before his departure?
It is known regarding the late American fashion designer that he loved collaborating with brands far from the world of fashion, including the car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz.
And it is not the first cooperation in this field, as it was preceded by a special edition of the Mercedes G.Class in the year 2020, and another version in the year 2021 of the Maybach car, which was presented at the Miami Design Show a few days following the death of Abloh at the age of 41 due to heart cancer. The third collaboration in this field was recently revealed as Maybach By Virgil Abloh.
This new design was completed shortly before Abloh’s death. It has a glossy black paint mixed with a desert beige. This duo also appears in the luxurious leather-lined interior of the car, in the digital screens and small details that highlight the designer’s attention to luxurious artistic touches.
Gordon Wagner, Chief Design Officer at Mercedes-Benz, declared: “Virgil Abloh approached this collaboration in a comprehensive manner, not only concerned with the product he was working on but also with the inspiration and narrative around it. He also deconstructed the design jargon of the “Abloh was a car enthusiast, and his latest designs in this field embody the true meaning of elegance and luxury.”
Simultaneously with this collaboration, the designer released a capsule collection of his own Off-White fashion inspired by this car.
The collection also includes shorts, cotton T-shirts, hoodies, driving gloves and hats in sandy beige tones inspired by the car’s color.
