The wooden nail and the robot – the mission continues. And this time the shots are sharp.
Mauerkirchen/Upper Austria (OTS) – Fastening pioneer BECK and KEHRATEC, a leading specialist in the fields of robot automation, intralogistics and process control systems, will be demonstrating the joint LIGNOLOC® pilot project at two trade fairs in 2023.
The two companies are working on the development of a robot-supported system for the fully or partially automated realization of timber construction projects, specifically through the pre-assembly of wall elements that are completely free of glue and metal. The system can be seen live in action at the BAU in Munich (April 17-22) and the LIGNA in Hanover (May 15-19). During the demonstrations, wall elements are manufactured in which the individual layers of boards are fastened by the robot with LIGNOLOC® wooden nails. A FASCO® nail head, BECK’s brand of equipment, is used for shooting. Pre-drilling is not necessary with the collated wooden nails.
SYSTEM CUSTOMIZABLE
The automation solution will be demonstrated at the booth with an original KUKA robot and a wall section. For real use, the system can be adapted to the needs of the customer. Our experts will be happy to advise you directly on site.
LIGNOLOC® AND ROBOTICS – ADVANTAGE FOR CARPENTRY
For CEO and General Manager Christian Beck, the advantages of robotics and ecological fastening technology in solid timber construction for carpentry are obvious: “Small and medium-sized timber construction companies and carpenters throughout Europe should be able to manufacture metal and glue-free solid wood wall elements themselves”
he explains the vision behind the project. “With the expansion of the LIGNOLOC® ecosystem in terms of compatibility with common processing solutions and the co-engineering of the flexible, digital robot platform together with KEHRATEC, the use of solid wood elements is becoming more flexible and transport routes shorter. Ultimately, it will be cheaper for many companies to manufacture solid wood elements themselves”
Beck is convinced of the advantages of the project for the timber construction industry.
