Because of the train tweet: wave of outrage against Renate Künast | policy

Green Party politician Renate Künast (68) wanted to vent her frustration with Deutsche Bahn – but her post on the platform X (formerly Twitter) backfired badly.

This is what happened: Künast was standing in front of the travel center eleven minutes before opening time at 9 a.m German railwaysprobably had a concern there. Despite several people waiting in front of the door, the employees inside did not open the door before the actual start. And made Künast wait until 9 a.m.

Incomprehensible to the politician, Künast asked why people couldn’t just “be a little nice” and posted a picture from the train station. The railway employees were also visible in the picture.

The now deleted tweet

Instead of encouragement, there was a hail of criticism. Many users pointed out that the opening times are clearly stated and that employees often have to make preparations before starting work.

The photo also caused criticism: the faces of the railway employees can be seen in it, which means they are “exposed”.

Künast herself initially left the negative reactions cold: “I didn’t have the problem,” she replied briefly to a comment. In the evening, the politician deleted her tweet.

Deutsche Bahn itself did not want to comment on the matter when asked by BILD.
