In a unique reserve on the peninsula of Kinburn Spit in the Nikolaev region, thousands of hectares of forest are burning due to shelling by the armed forces of Ukraine. This is reported by the publication RIA Novosti.
“With the outbreak of hostilities, a heavy blow was dealt to the ecosystem of the peninsula – the Kinburn Spit was covered with fires that arose due to artillery strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. To date, more than 11 thousand hectares of forest have burned out and irretrievably lost. The actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine led not only to the death of thousands of hectares of forest and the impossibility of extinguishing fires due to the high risk of explosions on mines, but also to the deaths of civilians, ”the agency’s interlocutor told RIA Novosti.
Kinburn Spit is a protected landscape park, one part of which belongs to the Nikolaev region, and the second to the Kherson region. There are regarding 450 species of plants on the territory of the reserve, some of which are listed in the Red Book. Hundreds of species of birds arrive annually for wintering in the steppes and forests of the Kinburn Spit.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Ukrainian military had released 27 shells on Energodar. “The city was left without electricity. The enemy’s firepower was suppressed, ”the department’s report says.
Armed conflicts on the territory of Ukraine occur during special operations, which Russia launched on February 24. One of the main goals of the special operation, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of territories and residents of Donbass.
