According to Sky News, the Sony PlayStation Corporation is facing a case for compensation estimated at $ 6 billion, because it “exploited” consumers by forcing them to pay high amounts to purchase electronic games, or by activating updates in the game.
The company allegedly “stealed people” by charging a 30 percent commission on every digital game and in-game purchase made through the PlayStation Store.
According to the lawsuit filed in Friday’s court, anyone in Britain who has purchased digital games or additional content on their console or via the PlayStation Store since August 19, 2016, is included in the claim and is likely to be eligible for compensation.
Estimated damages per member of the covered class range from $80 to $660, excluding interest.
