Ly Hoang Nam and the management unit decided not to join the Vietnam tennis team (VTF). The conflict between Ly Hoang Nam and the Vietnam Tennis Federation stemmed from the disagreement on the prize money for the number 1 player in Vietnam. He made a condition that requires the Vietnam Tennis Federation to support training funds and award 200 million separately in addition to the bonus according to the regime issued by the State for athletes with achievements in the SEA Games.
Ly Hoang Nam said: “Before the Vietnam team competed in the Davis Cup to compete for the second place with the Indonesian team, I discussed with Mr. Doan Thanh Tung, General Secretary of the Vietnam Tennis Federation and suggested preparing for the tournament. SEA Games, from February 2023. Every month I receive a support of 50 million VND to practice and compete at home and abroad, and at the same time I will be rewarded with 200 million VND if I win a gold medal in men’s singles.”

With what VTF and industry leaders have treated us with disrespect and disrespect over the years, especially with what VTF does not care regarding the Vietnamese tennis team in the Davis Cup, I decided not to accept any athletes. Meanwhile, Mr. Doan Thanh Tung, General Secretary of the Vietnam Tennis Federation, said that the decision to establish the team was late, so it should be announced in advance for meals and wages. After that, the General Department of Sports and Sports pays later. The cost of accommodation is taken care of by the organizers and the whole team has to walk because the nearby team does not require support, so no car will be provided. As for the requirements of the treatment and bonus regime as requested by Ly Hoang Nam, it is difficult for the federation to meet when the current funding is limited, and the sponsors are also facing many difficulties.
Talking regarding the management and care of the Vietnamese tennis team at the Davis Cup, Mr. Tung said: “The national team is not affiliated to VTF. Therefore, how is the accommodation, travel, training and competition like? is the responsibility and management of the General Department of Sports and Sports and the National Sports Training Center of Ho Chi Minh City”.
Mr. Tran Duc Phan, Deputy General Director of the General Department of Sports, said: “I apologize to the members of the Vietnamese tennis team at the Davis Cup for the shortcomings in the past time. We will discuss with Hai Dang Tay Ninh and Ly. Hoang Nam to clarify related issues”.

Their investment and requirements are only a fraction of that of the number 1 player in Vietnam.
