Barcelona defender and captain Gerard Pique informed one of the club’s officials of his desire to leave Spain due to the intrusion into his private life following his separation from his partner, Colombian singer Shakira, in early June.
Pique and Shakira announced their separation last June, and demanded respect for their lives and the personal lives of their two children.
According to the Spanish radio “Cobe”, Pique told a high-ranking official in the Catalan club that he was tired of hacking his privacy and the media intrusion into his private life following his separation from Shakira, and that he wanted to move away from Spain for this reason.
Pique is not at his best at the sporting level at the moment, as he did not play with Barcelona this season and remained on the bench in the four matches that Barcelona played in the Spanish League competition, and he also became the fifth choice for coach Xavi Hernandez behind Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Eric Garcia and the newcomer. Jules Conde.
This came following Pique threatened to sue the “paparazzi” who are tracking him following the separation from Shakira, as his lawyer issued an official statement early this month in which he said: “Since last June, several rumors and inaccurate news have been published regarding the player, his family, his personal life and his privacy. Not only negatively on his image and honor, but rather a strong attack on the rights of his children, whose safety and security is Pique’s greatest concern.”
He added: Gerard Pique has always respected media workers and their right to obtain information and knows their importance in society, but in the past weeks they have come to interfere in his personal life illegally, forcing our client to take precautionary decisions and legal measures towards those who violated the privacy of his family and offered his children at risk.
