A representative of “Samsung” told AFP that the company’s decision applies to employees of the Department of mobile devices and household electrical appliances.
Samsung Electronics announced Tuesday that it has banned part of its employees from using generative artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT, following it cited “excessive use cases” of the technology in an internal memo.
In recent months, other companies, including Goldman Sachs, have issued decisions banning or restricting the use of generative AI platforms.
Launched by OpenAI last November, ChatGBT impressed users with its ability to clearly and accurately answer difficult questions, especially writing songs or code, and even passing exams.
A representative of “Samsung” told AFP that the company’s decision applies to employees of the Department of Mobile Devices and Household Electrical Appliances.
An internal memo, the text of which was seen by AFP, indicated that Samsung is looking for ways to use generative AI services in “a safe environment for all employees with the aim of improving work efficiency and ease”.
“Until these measures are in place, we are temporarily prohibiting the use of generative AI services on the company’s computers,” Samsung added in the note.
And the company indicated in the note that it had been informed of “excessive use cases” of this type of tool from Samsung employees, without additional details.
The document recommended that employees not upload information related to their work on these platforms when they contact them outside the company’s headquarters.
