Manchester United responded to Atletico Madrid’s offer of a reciprocal deal that would decide the future of Cristiano Ronaldo, the “Red Devils” star.
Several reports had earlier revealed the desire to Ronaldo to leave for Manchester United During the current summer Mercato, for his desire to play with one of the clubs participating in the next edition of the European Champions League.
And the Spanish newspaper “AS” said that Atletico Madrid, the latest interested in annexing Ronaldo, offered Manchester United the services of Antoine Griezmann, in exchange for the contract with the Portuguese star, but the offer was rejected by the English club’s management.
And the newspaper, quoting English sources, indicated that Manchester United coach Eric Ten Hag insists on Cristiano’s continuity with the team, which complicates the Portuguese star’s exit from Old Trafford.
Griezmann is currently playing for Atletico Madrid on loan from Barcelona until the end of next season, with a mandatory purchase for 40 million euros.
And press reports said earlier that Atletico was considering activating the purchase clause in Griezmann’s contract, and then selling it to improve his financial situation before contracting with Ronaldo.
It is worth noting that Ten Hag ignored everything that was raised regarding Ronaldo’s future and his desire to leave, and stressed that the Portuguese star is “not for sale”, and he will remain with the team until the end of his contract in the summer of 2023.
And Enrique Cerezo, president of Atletico Madrid, denied that his club had any interest in the inclusion of Ronaldo, noting that completing the deal was “impossible”.
Atlético fans also announced their rejection of Cristiano, the legend of Real Madrid, joining the “Wanda Metropolitano” stadium.
It should be noted that Ronaldo, 37, recently returned to Manchester to negotiate with the club’s management to leave, and he engaged in the team’s training following an absence of nearly 3 weeks, waiting for his future to be decided.
