“Serge Gainsbourg’s Little Papers”
No need to wait for Serge Gainsbourg’s private mansion in Paris to be transformed into a museum. The manuscripts brought together by Laurent Balandras allow us to enter the studio of the singer-songwriter, his little factory of songs, for him as for Régine, France Gall, Jane Birkin and many others. With the many documents reproduced here in facsimile and accompanied by precise decipherings, the reader sits behind Gainsbourg’s shoulder and can imagine him at work. Here he is grabbing his pen, writing down a first verse: “Let the little papers do the talking”added “Aston Martin, typing paper, A drink at the bar, blotting paper”cross out the lines he has just written, try “A little cockroach, blotting paper”crosses out the passage once more, gropes around, notes the beginning of a melody, circles what he retains: “A little love, velvet paper”. A first version of this magnificent and captivating volume was published in 2011. On the occasion of the works of the future museum, new drafts were discovered, including that of the P’tits Papiers. The book also contains some enigmatic texts, like this one: “For the point point point, Must not be obese, For the point point point, Must not be overweight”… Dec.

« Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin »
Thousands of photographs taken during the career of the British rock band Led Zeppelin, from its creation in the fall of 1968 until its dissolution, announced in early December 1980, following the death of drummer John Bonham, a few hundred have been selected to compile this collection. First published in 2018 by Reel Art Press, it benefits from an edition in France with the translation of the inserts, comments and memories of the three other members of the group. Presented as the only “official illustrated book” on Led Zeppelin, with a number of rare documents, personal archives of singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones and the Bonham family, he follows the band’s journey chronologically. It shows him in action, fully living the music, in confidential clubs and then in front of gigantic crowds. The book is perfectly highlighted by the print quality of the chosen documents, a neat layout, with work on the frames, the alternation between black and white and color. S. Si.
