While Apple products are subject to total radio silence before the official announcement to the media, the operation does not seem to be the same with the Beats brand. Apple does not hesitate to collaborate with celebrities to promote its future Beats headphones or headsets that have not yet been unveiled. While we eagerly await the second generation of the Powerbeats Pro, the Cupertino company has published a short video on X of the next generation of Powerbeats Pro.
A first visual on the Powerbeats 2
Apple today revealed a new, groundbreaking collaboration between its Beats brand and Major League Baseball (MLB) star Shohei Ohtani by sharing a promotional video on social media platform X. The video not only promotes the unique collaboration, but also offers a highly anticipated first look at the upcoming Powerbeats Pro 2, which are slated to release in 2025, according to the message at the end of the video.
In this less than a minute teaser, Beats reveals the second generation of the Powerbeats Pro, while the video remains discreet on technical details, it gives a taste of the design of the new headphones. These Powerbeats Pro 2 have a very similar look to their predecessors, while offering a slightly more refined and modern design.
The current version of the Powerbeats Pro was released in 2019 and after more than four years on the market, a renewal is eagerly awaited. Competition in the wireless earphone sector continues to grow, with constant innovations from brands like Sony, Bose and Samsung. To remain competitive, Beats has no choice but to modernize its flagship product in order to maintain its commercial momentum. A sales cycle of more than four years for wireless earphones becomes risky, especially in such a fast-paced market.
The current Powerbeats Pro are known for their fitness-oriented design, they include adjustable ear hooks that ensure optimal support during workouts. They are powered by Apple’s H1 chip, this chip guarantees a fast and stable connection, as well as support for the voice command “Siri” or “Hey Siri”.
Performance-wise, the current Powerbeats Pro offer up to 9 hours of battery life on a single charge, a major plus for users looking to enjoy long listening sessions without the need to charge them frequently. We’re hoping that battery life will see a slight bump with the Powerbeats 2, though we can expect to see maybe an extra hour or two of battery life.
As of now, Beats has not revealed any other specific information about the technical specifications of the Powerbeats Pro 2. However, we can expect improvements in key areas such as sound quality and certain features, to bring these new models in line with the standards of high-end wireless headphones on the market.
