Beatings should not be glamorized in dramas: Mirb Ali

Mirb Ali is a rising star of Pakistani showbiz, who is continuing her education along with acting.

Meerab Ali, who gained fame from ‘Zinf-i-Ahan’, is currently playing the role of a sensible, strong girl in the drama serial ‘Vabal’.

In an interview given to Independent Urdu on the set of ‘Wabal’, she said that she never lived in Gilgit-Baltistan, she used to live in Saudi Arabia and then shifted to Lahore.

According to Merib, she is studying law and is affiliated with the University of London’s external student program. Last year there was a delay so she is resuming her studies after a gap of one year.

Merib feels that her career is going well so far. This year she has done two plays and she also keeps reading people’s opinions on social media.

Regarding her work, she said: ‘I won’t become my own face. My biggest critic is my mother, so I listen to her very seriously.’

Regarding the pressure of work, Meereb Ali said, ‘I am very thankful. There is pressure, but then the answer can be given by one’s own work. I’m going in a straight direction and I’ll keep walking here.’

Mirab believes that dramas should not have beating scenes. He said: ‘Dramas involving beatings have been going on for a long time, if seen, it happens, but if you have to show it, show it in such a way that a lesson is learned that it should not happen.’

According to Merib: ‘The beating should not be glamorized that the hero is killing and the heroine is still in love with him.’

“Once a very young girl came to visit me, I realized that our children also watch dramas, so we need to be very careful,” says Merib.

Regarding work in films, Merib said that whenever there is an opportunity, she will definitely take advantage of it.

Asked about her engagement to singer Asim Azhar, Meereb said: ‘We are very old family friends. I had no intention of entering showbiz, so I didn’t think about it, both families thought about it, which is the result. I didn’t think so.’

Asked about the wedding timeline, Mireb said: ‘I don’t plan much. We have left all these questions to adults. They will do it when they say it, it doesn’t matter if it’s early or late.’

According to Meerab Ali, she is very fond of reading and wants to study more and not just for a degree.

She said: ‘I memorize the scripts of dramas, that is, I am good at writing and I am good at debating, so I thought I should do something in this field.’
