2023-07-08 02:37:57

CAA-Quebec has been overwhelmed with calls for the past few days due to the heat.

Repair requests have multiplied this week, especially in the Quebec region

During periods of extreme heat, CAA-Quebec sees its requests for roadside assistance increase by 15% in Quebec.

This represents between 300 and 500 more calls per day. On average, 2,000 requests for assistance are made across the province on a typical summer day.

Vehicle batteries are particularly taxed in very hot weather and they are much more so than in winter because of the temperature which can reach 150 degrees under the hood of vehicles.

The number of battery replacement services nearly tripled this week for. There were 116 this week. In previous weeks, it was around 40 replacements per week.

“It’s really hard on vehicles, especially vehicles that are a little less well maintained. It can affect the engine and the radiator. The vehicle will tend to overheat,” explains CAA-Quebec team leader Charles Laroche.

“In the batteries, there are lead plates. It can make them twist or downright unsolder them, ”he adds.
