Beata Michniewicz fired from Polish Radio after 40 years

The Wirtualne Media website reported Beata Michniewicz’s dismissal. “A few days ago, Beata Michniewicz was given notice of termination of her contract with Polskie Radio. Until Friday, she hosted ‘Political Salon Trójka’ (broadcast from Monday to Friday at 8.45), and on Saturday she hosted ‘Breakfast at Trójka’ at 9.05,” we read.

As Wirtualne Media points out, Beata Michniewicz is one of the few political journalists who remained at the station during the eight years of Law and Justice’s rule. “She started working at Trójka in 1983. She is the originator of the Silver Lips plebiscite for the most original statements by politicians, which was suspended four years ago,” it said.

Changes in Radio Three

In January, Agnieszka Szydłowska officially became the new director of Radio Trójka. The journalist took the place of Marcin Wąsiewicz, who had been managing the station for over two years.

– Agnieszka Szydłowska returns to Trójka with experience and understanding of the uniqueness of this antenna, and at the same time guarantees the creation of an inspiring radio alternative. Thanks to her, Trójka has a chance to express its intense cultural and musical voice and propose unconventional meetings between artists and listeners. I am sure that Agnieszka Szydłowska will restore the glory and reputation it deserves to Trójka, and the last years on Myśliwiecka Street will be forgotten. I am convinced that the changes that will soon be initiated by the new head of the antenna will also result in the return of business partners’ trust in Trójka, said Paweł Majcher, editor-in-chief of Polish Radio.

– I see public radio as a space of intellectual freedom, vigilance on social and cultural issues, a natural place for meetings and conversations. We must rebuild the potential and trust that our customers have placed in us in recent years, adapting to the times in which we do it. We want to be wherever our potential customers are. The trio will actively join the discussion on the future shape of public media, listening to the voices of activists, people professionally involved in media research, and intellectual and artistic circles. Welcome to Trójka! – said Agnieszka Szydłowska, the new director of Trójka
