“Beasts”: New ORF series with Ursula Strauss and young stars

This week the first take for the new series by “Vorstadtweiber” author Uli Brée fell. “Beasts” will be shot in and around Vienna: The focus of the ORF production is on four girls, two of whom come from modest backgrounds and two from a rich family. According to the announcement, “two worlds collide”. The eponymous “beasts” are Anja Pichler, Mara Romei, Fanni Schneider and Theresa Riess (known from the TV thriller “Jeanny – Das 5. Mädchen”) in front of the camera. Ten 45-minute episodes are planned. Alongside the newcomers, audience favorites such as Ursula Strauss, Simon Schwarz, Claudia Kottal and Oliver Baier will be in front of the camera until September. Directed by Mirjam Unger (she has “Vorstadtweiber” experience) and Andreas Kopriva, the broadcast date is planned for 2024.

Screenwriter Uli Brée reveals: “It’s a wild, cheeky dance on the Viennese volcano. I grew so fond of these beasts while writing that I might hardly wait for life to finally be breathed into them. Are we in the ‘suburb women ‘ Submerged in the swamp of Viennese society, we now tell how two completely different social classes collide, interlock, bite and fall in love. It’s evil, it’s touching and always abysmal human.” Simon Schwarz and Ursula Strauss embody one of the parents.
