Chicago will get wide receiver DJ Moorethe first-round pick of the Panthersnumber 9 overall, 61st, another first round in 2024 and a second round in 2025.

add to DJ Moore to a thin receiving corps was the best chance of Chicago to bring in a No. 1 receiver given the lack of depth at that position in free agency and the draft. Moore put together three 1,000-yard seasons (2019-21) and had seven career touchdowns from him in 2022.

This will be the third time that the bhave the first pick. They had him in his first season, 1995, but they traded him to the Cincinnati Bengals for the No. 5 pick and the No. 36 pick in the second round. They selected the quarterback Kerry Collins with the No. 5.

They also had the first pick in 2011 and selected Cam Newton of Auburnwho won the 2015 MVP and led Carolina al Super Bowl.

The general manager of the Panthers, Scott Fittererleft the exchange option open during a recent interview at the Combined of the NFL in Indianapolis.

“Go and find the guy you want. If you have conviction regarding a guy, go find him. It’s pretty simple that way. If you don’t know it and you are going to give all these resources to go up and get it, in the long run you are hurting your team. You better be right. You better have conviction if you get promoted.”

“But when you do that, you’re all-in.”

Carolina has searched for a franchise quarterback since Cam Newton had shoulder problems midway through the 2015 season. They released Newton before the 2020 season and left with Teddy Bridgewater.

The Panthers traded for Sam Darnold, the third pick in the 2018 draft, in 2021. They traded for Baker Mayfield, the first pick in the 2018 draft, prior to last season.

They were recently involved in talks with the former quarterback of Las Vegas Raiders, Derek Carrwho on Monday signed with the rival of the NFC On, New Orleans.

During those discussions at the combine, team officials decided to remain focused on getting a quarterback in the draft.

They were up, according to league sources, in Will Levis of Kentucky at the beginning of last season. They were impressed with Levis, Bryce Young of Alabama y C.J. Stroud of Ohio State in the Combined.

draft analyst ESPN, Goalkeeper Melhas Levis as its highest-rated quarterback, but other analysts believe Young will be the first quarterback drafted.

“The poise, the competitiveness, the ability to process and see the field,” Fitterer said of Young at the combine. “The guy never seems stressed when he’s on the stock market. And then you meet him in person and he’s chill. He’s a good guy. Nothing is too big for him.”

“I remember a couple of years ago at the Heisman Trophy presentation. My wife and I were sitting there looking at him…and he was so serene. I think he had [20] at that moment. It doesn’t act, it is what it is. It’s ingrained in him.”
