THE Bearkats de Sam Houston (in English : Sam Houston Bearkats) are a university sports club at Sam Houston State University located in Huntsville, Texas.
The Bearkats teams compete in college competitions organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
After playing in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) as members of the Southland Conference (1986–2021) and Western Athletic Conference (2022), the Bearkats football program will join the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) as members of Conference USA on July 1, 2023.
