Beach workers, two-hour strike on Friday 9 August. But the protest divides –

Two-hour strike, on the second Friday of August, for beach establishments: the strike is scheduled from 7:30 to 9:30 on August 9, to protest against the government’s failure to intervene to provide certainties to businesses in the sector. However, the trade associations are divided: Sib-Confcommercio and Fiba-Confesercenti have called for a strike but Assobalneari has made it known that they will not support the delayed opening of umbrellas “so as not to penalize thousands of consumers who have chosen Italian beach establishments for their holidays”.

Italian Beach Resort Union (Sib) and Italian Beach Resort Federation (Fiba) confirmed the mobilization in a joint note signed by the president of Sib, Antonio Capacchione, and the president of Fiba, Maurizio Rustignoli: «There is still no legislative provision that provides certainty to public and private operators on the beach issue. We note that government sources have announced a provision in one of the next Council of Ministers. It is a signal that we do not intend to underestimate, therefore in the next few days the governing bodies will meet again to evaluate the situation, which for years has kept 30 thousand companies and 100 thousand direct employees in suspense and possibly confirm or suspend the other subsequent demonstrations scheduled for August 19 and 29». The beach resort operators are asking for certainty for the beach concessions that expired last December 31 after the Council of State stopped the extensions decided by the government.
