The European champions move into the knockout phase undefeated. Esmée Böbner and Zoé Vergé-Dépré are also further along.
Tanja Hüberli and Nina Brunner had already qualified for the knockout phase before the final group game against Tina Graudina/Anastasija Samoilova. Thanks to a 21:19, 23:25, 16:14 victory, the Swiss duo now move into the round of 16 as group winners.
The game against the previously unbeaten Latvians was as close as the result suggests. In the second set, Hüberli/Brunner ran after a small deficit for a long time and then left three match points unused. In the deciding set, the two Swiss women were 10:13 behind before winning 6 of the last 7 points.
It is not yet clear who the number 7 seeded European champions will meet in the round of 16.
Great success for Böbner/Vergé-Dépré
Esmée Böbner and Zoé Vergé-Dépré have also secured a place in the knockout phase. The duo won against the previously unbeaten Dutch team Katja Stam/Raïsa Schoon with 21:19, 21:19.
Because the two Dutch women have a slightly better point difference across all three group games, the two Swiss women are in second place in the table. Their opponents in the round of 16 are also not yet known.
