Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN)–You may have heard the popular saying “everything is too much…turns once morest it.” There are many people who cannot sit at the dining table without the salt pan.
However, what most people don’t know is that salt may be hiding in food as well.
And the UAE Ministry of Health and Community Protection, through its official account on the “Instagram” website, published a group of foods that may contain a high percentage of salt.
What are the highlights?
- Processed meat
- the cheese
- Sauces and sauces
- the bread
- frozen meals
- canned food
- pickles
Natural salt may suggest that it is less harmful than refined salt, but this is just a rumor, according to the official account of the Omani Ministry of Health in a tweet on “Twitter”.
The tweet confirmed that the two types contain similar amounts of sodium, and it is advised to limit their use.
So, why not consider replacing salt with healthier products in your kitchen?
And the UAE Ministry of Health and Community Protection, through its official account on the “Instagram” website, published some useful suggestions for health.
Natural and dried herbs are among the solutions that can be resorted to to add flavor to your food, without the need to use salt.
Among these herbs, you can use basil, rosemary, thyme, bay leaf, mint, parsley, and others.
There are also many other alternatives that can be used in your food, such as spices, garlic, black pepper, lemon juice, cinnamon, and vinegar.
The UAE Ministry of Health and Community Protection advises avoiding high-salt products, such as chicken broth cubes, cheese, potato chips, mayonnaise, pickles, and processed meat.
For moderate-salt products, they include breakfast cereals, ready-made soups, bread, and pastries.
Finally, vegetables, fruits, yogurt, and eggs are among the low-salt products.
