“Be careful not to let Morena in”

MEXICO CITY.- Elements of the police Campeche they went to Saint Lazarus to denounce the governor Layda Sansores and the Secretary of State Security, Marcela Muñoz for irregularities and deficiencies in her efforts.

In a meeting with the media at the headquarters of the Chamber of Deputies and accompanied by Rodolfo Basurto, general secretary of the National Police Unionthe Campeche police sent a message to their colleagues in Yucatan.

Message from Campeche police to Yucatán

In their message from San Lázaro, Campeche officials urged their colleagues in Yucatán not to make the “same mistake as us.”

“Be careful regarding letting Morena enter your state, don’t make the same mistake as us,” they warn.

Given the current conflict with the Morenoist governor, they stressed that “Campeche is the gateway to the Yucatan Peninsula,” which is why both citizens and police said they were very concerned regarding the issue of public safety.

“We invite our Yucatecan friends, the Yucatecan citizens, our fellow Yucatecans from the state to ask if that is what they want for Yucatán? Let them see the reflection that we Campechanos are experiencing.”

The state police officers were invited to San Lázaro by the Campechano deputies, Jose Luis Flores Pachecoby Morena, and Pedro Armentía Lópezfrom Citizen Movement.

“The governor has lost the focus that she must be an impartial ruler, out of obligation she has to be impartial, but she is wanting to make it political,” claimed the Morenista deputy from Campeche.

“The police were charged if they had a flat tire, they were charged if they needed oil, in their month-long training, they were reduced to one week,” he said.

“This is no longer a game, this is no longer politics, do not see it that way, it is a legitimate demonstration that, it seems, the government does not want to listen to and take action on the matter,” agreed the legislator of Citizen movement.

“The people of Campeche demand leaders who make quick decisions and who are not leaving the elements and their families in uncertainty,” he said.

Lawsuit between police officers and Layda Sansores

The police started a strike and several protests once morest Layda Sansores and the Secretary of Security, Marcela Muñoz, due to the riot inside the San Francisco Kobén prison last March 15.

The officers denounce that they were sent to attend to a transfer of prisoners without the information and security equipment necessary for their work, in addition to similar irregularities in the current Moreno administration.

During the failed operation, to which they were sent without the necessary equipment, five policewomen were sexually assaulted, who also have consequences and need psychological attention, which the state government itself has denied them.

This Thursday they reported that they are harassed by the governor and will hand over the president of the Board of Directors, Marcela Guerra, a letter with evidence of the irregularities that Sansores committed, for which they request his dismissal.

Something to take care of

In an interview with Yucatan DiaryDeputy Flores Pacheco stressed that Layda Sansores’ government is not providing the necessary resources to the security sector, not even to training, and is repressing police officers who have dared to raise their voices in the face of irregularities.

When comparing the situation with Yucatán, the Morenoist legislator indicated:

“Yucatán seems very calm, it is seen that they have a very committed police force and that they put a lot of money into security. That is something that must be taken care of.”

He also stated that, although it is difficult to admit, the Morenoist government of Campeche started with good ideas, but “today we see that they are not being fulfilled, in short.”

“It is unfortunate, but I have to say it: this government is repressive. It is almost the same as the PRI or worse,” he added.

He later pointed out that the governor’s attacks once morest the free expression of police officers have generated expressions of support from Campeche citizens.

“If the police officers’ rights are violated, what are they not going to do with a citizen?” he asked.

Unfulfilled promises

To a question, he stated that following 92 years of PRI governments in Campeche everyone wanted a change, but expectations were not met.

“Before there were many irregularities, a lot!, and it is regrettable that not everything promised is being fulfilled.”—ÁNGEL NOH ESTRADA
