The STIB network will be disrupted on Friday due to the national day of action organized at the initiative of several trade unions. The Brussels Intermunicipal Transport Company invites its travelers to make their own arrangements and provide, if possible, alternatives to public transport for their journeys.
Concretely, the trade unions will gather rue Ravenstein, in the city center, to demonstrate. This event, which therefore does not concern STIB directly, will nevertheless have an impact on the circulation of buses, trams and metros.
The Stib network will be disrupted, on the one hand, because of the participation of part of the Stib staff in the movement, at the call of the union common front. On the other hand, the rally planned in the city center will have repercussions on the circulation of STIB vehicles.
“Although it is impossible today to know to what extent the appeal of the trade union front will be followed and what impact the passage of the demonstration procession will have on the circulation of buses and trams, Brussels society expects that its network is disrupted”, deplores the STIB in a press release before inviting travelers to provide, as far as possible, alternative solutions to its public transport offer to get around on Friday.
The Stib will inform travelers in real time, Friday, throughout the day via its website www.stib.brusselsthe mobile application as well as on social media Facebook (facebook.com/lastib) and Twitter (@STIBMIVB). Customer Care will also be available, from 6 a.m. that day, to answer travellers’ questions, by telephone on 070 23 2000, as well as on social media.
