‘Be Able’: Plan to train 10 lakh youth in IT field

The project, known as ‘Banoo Qab’, has been launched under the Jamaat-e-Islami-affiliated NGO Al-Khidmat Foundation, which was initially launched in Karachi and is later being introduced in Punjab and now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, under ‘Banu Qual’, three-month certificate courses will be conducted in various IT fields, which will be recognized by the government IT department and the international organization in London, and the youth who acquire these skills will also be trained abroad. Will be able to find employment opportunities.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa coordinator Kamran Zareen Khan told Independent Urdu that 80,000 youths had participated in the program in Karachi while 45,000 students were still studying.

According to Kamran Zarin, an agreement has been signed with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IT Board, while the registration of students has also been started.

Certificate Courses

Among the skills that will be imparted to the youth under the ‘Be Able’ project are office automation, art of crafting through Artificial intelligencewill include courses like graphics designing, motion graphics, e-commerce, digital marketing, mobile app development, website development, cyber security, and data science artificial intelligence.

Regarding the international recognition of these courses, Kamran Zarin Khan said that apart from the approval of the official IT board at the local level, the certificate will also be recognized by the UK registered organization Learning Resource Network.

Registration Procedure and Eligibility

To join this program one must first register themselves on the specific online portal of the program and the minimum qualification for taking up any course is matriculation and age limit is 30 years.

According to Kamran Zarin, the youth with matriculation education will be given basic training while those with inter and bachelor degrees will be given relatively advanced courses.

A candidate must have a personal laptop, computer or smart phone to participate in the Banu Qual course.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IT Board Deputy Director Skills and Digital Economy Muhammad Shoaib told Independent Urdu that around 1 million youth across Pakistan will be trained under this project, which is more than any other program in the country.

He further informed that this project by the IT Board in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa includes training of trainers, curriculum development, marketing, outreach support, including provision of IT Board labs.

Mohammad Shoaib said: ‘The IT Board will ensure that quality training is provided under this programme, in which the IT Board will provide all support to the service.’

He said that after three months of training, youths with IT background would be able to take up small freelance projects and earn from it.

He said, ‘Even with 80% skills, the youth will be able to start a startup. We will show the way to these youths and then the youths can go ahead with their passion.’
