BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has said that the BCCI will soon find a way to host the Ranji Trophy, which has been postponed in the wake of rising Kovid cases. Domestic competitions will be held soon if the Kovid plague is reduced. The Ranji Trophy was postponed due to Kovid’s injuries to various team members. Ganguly said the health of the players is important to the board.
The BCCI has decided to postpone Ranji’s new season indefinitely, which is set to begin this month, amid growing cases of omicron, the new variant of Kovid in the country. Ranji was dropped due to Kovid last season. As the attempts to restart the tournament progress this season, the Kovid wave has once once more swept through all miscalculations. Along with the Ranji Trophy, the CK Naidu Trophy and the Women’s T20 tournament have been postponed.
The Ranji Trophy is the second major tournament in India to be postponed following the Kovid epidemic. Recently, the National Football Federation decided to postpone the new season of the I-League Football Championship.
