Port of Spain: It is reported that the BCCI has spent around three and a half crore rupees for the chartered flight for the Indian team to reach West Indies from England (WI vs IND) for the ODI and T20 series. This was reported by national media Times of India quoting BCCI sources. BCCI has booked a flight from Manchester to Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago.
BCCI arranged a chartered flight of crores for the Indian team to reach the Caribbean soil not only because of the Kovid background. The BCCI relied on chartered flights considering the difficulty of getting tickets together for a large group of 16 players, coaches and other staff on other flights. India’s West Indies tour consists of three ODIs and five T20Is. All ODIs are played at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain. The tour of the Indian team will begin with the first ODI at Queen’s Park tomorrow (July 22). The second ODI will be held on the 24th and the third on the 27th at the same venue. Shikhar Dhawan is the ODI captain in Rohit Sharma’s absence. Rohit will lead the T20 team. The T20 matches are on July 29, August 1, 2, 6 and 7. The T20 venues are in the Caribbean and the United States.
