CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.– Boston College fell to Wake Forest in four sets Friday night. Scores of the sets were 25-19, 25-22, 25-19, and 25-19.

Set one was all Eagles taking a commanding lead off of a 7-1 run led by a set of aces by Cornelia Roach and Grace Penn. The Eagles added 12 blocks in set one, led by Roach with four. A kill by Halle Schroder closed the set, 25-19.

The Eagles battled point for point with the Demon Deacons in the second set, before ultimately falling 25-22. BC tallied nine kills on 34 total attacks, while WFU registered 14 kills on 34 total attacks.

Set three was back forth tying it up six times throughout the set. Julia Haggerty opened the set with back-to-back blocks. Boston College would tie it six times and get within one on seven times, but dropped set three 25-19.

Wake Forest closed out the match in the fourth, using a strong finish to secure the victory. BC trailed by one – 16-15 – before the Demon Deacons rallied to score five of the next six points. The Eagles might not dig out of that hole and dropped the frame, 25-19.

Katrina Jensen led the Eagles in kills with nine followed by Sam Hoppes with eight. Haggerty defended the net with eight blocks. Setters Penn and Sophia Lambros guided the offense with 27 assists, Penn led with 17. Libero Anna Murphy led the defense with 15 digs.

For the match, BC hit .053 (39 kills/31 errors/ 152 attempts) and registered six service aces, Roach led with three aces. Penn reached 2,000 career assists.

The Eagles fall to 12-7 overall and 1-4 in ACC play and return to action on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. in the Margot Connell Recreation Center once morest Virginia Tech.
