BLACKSBURG, Va. – Boston College men’s soccer fell 1-0 to Virginia Tech on Friday evening in Blacksburg at Thompson Field.
The Eagles fall to 2-3-3 and 0-2-1 in ACC play, while the Hokies move to 2-2-3 and 2-0-1 in league action.
Boston College and Virginia Tech were in a defensive battle for much of the contest until the Hokies’ Noe Uwimana scored in the 77th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
The Eagles’ offense was unable to get a clean look to tie the contest, leading to the VT win.
BC posted a 9-7 advantage in shots, with Xavier O’Neil tallying a team-best three shot attempts. He fired off an attempt with four minutes left in the first half, but just missed to the right of the goal. O’Neil was one of three players with multiple shots.
Brennan Klein made the start between the posts, stopping a pair of shots in 90 minutes.
The Eagles return to action next Friday at the Newton Soccer Complex once morest Wake Forest at 2 p.m.
