Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency: laying the foundation stone for the development of the courses of the campus of Al-Quds University in Beit Hanina

Al-Quds – The foundation stone for the course development project within the campus of Al-Quds University in Beit Hanina, with funding from the Kingdom of Morocco, was laid on Saturday.

Endowed with an envelope of nearly 300,000 dollars, this project is part of the Environmental Clubs program, launched by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency within the schools of the Holy City.

It provides for the restructuring and development of the main access and corridors, the creation and equipment of shaded areas, as well as the construction of bleachers for the university stadium.

On this occasion, an agreement was signed for the creation of the Environment Club within the same campus, in the presence of the director in charge of the management of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, of the Ambassador of Mexico, the Turkish Consul and the Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Al-Quds, as well as members of the University Council and maqdissi personalities.

The project provides for the construction of green spaces equipped with a local irrigation system, the construction of a rainwater recycling station and an experimental farm that contains plants of Andalusian and Moroccan origin.

It is also a question of fitting out and equipping the ecological museum and the installation of solar panels for the lighting of the courses and corridors of the campus.

Through the “Environmental Clubs” project, the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency aims to raise awareness and educate young generations on the importance of preserving the balance of ecosystems in Al-Quds, and encourage young to exercise professions related to nature and waste recycling.

In a statement to the press, the President of Al-Quds University, Imad Abu Kishek, expressed his gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, and to Morocco for the support given to Palestinian institutions , praising the achievements of HM the King, especially in the old city and in “Harat” Al-Magherib.

Mr. Abu Kishek affirmed that Morocco has never ceased to support the city of Al-Quds so that its institutions and its inhabitants continue to resist in this holy land.

For his part, the executive secretary of the University, Imad Al-Kahtib, noted that the green spaces which will be created under the terms of the signed agreement, will make it possible to carry out training projects in the field of the environment for the benefit of students.

For his part, the laureate of the Mohammed V University of Rabat, Ahmed Nachteh, praised the efforts and initiatives carried out by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency within the Holy City and for the benefit of its inhabitants, noting that the Agency actions are visible in many institutions of the city.

According to him, these initiatives demonstrate the spirit of brotherhood and generosity of Moroccans, and reflect the attachment of the Kingdom of Morocco to Palestine in general and to Al-Quds in particular.
