In preparation for the new season, record-breaking German soccer champions FC Bayern Munich barely won a test match against Japanese first-division team Kawasaki Frontale. Bayern won 1-0 in Tokyo on Saturday with Salzburg’s Konrad Laimer in the starting line-up. As during the week, the ÖFB team player played the first half in central midfield alongside Joshua Kimmich in the 2-1 draw against Manchester City.
Coach Thomas Tuchel made numerous changes before the second half, with Dutchman Ryan Gravenberch coming on for newcomer Laimer. Defender Josip Stanisic scored the goal in the 58th minute. Sadio Mané was no longer in the squad because the Senegalese “is in contract talks about a change of club,” as Bayern announced.
But Mané was still with the team and was also spotted in the national stadium. The striker is set to join Saudi club Al-Nassr soon. Mané’s agent Björn Bezemer was due to arrive in Tokyo on Saturday to complete the transfer to Cristiano Ronaldo’s employer. According to media reports, the medical check is planned for Sunday in Dubai.
