Bayern will not extend with all top performers

With Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Müller, Manuel Neuer and Serge Gnabry, FC Bayern is aiming for four important contract extensions in the coming months. As ex-FCB professional Thomas Helmer reveals, the record champions will not extend with all four stars in the end.

The Bayern bosses have repeatedly emphasized in recent months that they want to retain their top performers in the long term. Even if Müller, Lewandowski and Neuer all belong to the over 30 generation, FCB is open to working together beyond the summer of 2023. The same applies to Serge Gnabry. Talks have been going on with the 26-year-old winger for months, but no agreement has yet been reached.

“I heard something”

As TV expert Thomas revealed last night in the “SPORT1” fan talk, FC Bayern will not extend with all four stars: “I heard something. Bayern will not extend with everyone because it is simply no longer financially feasible.” When asked where Helmer got this information from, the 56-year-old was covered. Helmer denied an interjection from the audience, according to which Uli Hoeneß was the source.

Discussions with Müller are going well

In view of the latest media reports, the extension of Lewandowski and Gnabry is particularly difficult. While no concrete talks have yet been held with the FIFA world footballer, Gnabry is still at odds on the subject of salary. According to reports, the DFB national player demands up to 20 million euros per year. The current FCB offer should be around 15 million euros.

Lewandowski, on the other hand, is repeatedly associated with an early departure in the summer. FC Barcelona in particular should be very interested. Rumor has it that the Pole attaches great importance to a long-term contract. According to “BILD” information, the top scorer will also ask for a salary increase once more.

At Thomas Müller, however, the talks are going well. As “Sky” reported this week, the negotiations are already on the home stretch and the original Bavarian is regarding to be extended. A new employment contract with a term until 2025 is in the air.
