Bayern separates from new intimate Tapalovic

The German record champions Bayern Munich have parted ways with their goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic. As the club of ÖFB legionnaire Marcel Sabitzer announced on Monday, the 42-year-old was released with immediate effect. “In particular, differences regarding the way we work together have now led to us going our separate ways,” said sports director Hasan Salihamidzic. Tapalovi is considered a close confidant of DFB team goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Neuer’s best man had been the responsible coach for the Bayern goalies at the Bundesliga leaders since 2011. Most recently, goalkeeper Alexander Nübel, who was loaned to Monaco by Bayern, criticized that there had been very little contact with Tapalovic since he had been playing in France. “I do believe that you might have exchanged views regarding the situation from time to time,” said Nübel on ZDF.

Salihamidzic then announced: “We will talk regarding that internally.” Bayern did not provide any information regarding Tapalovic’s successor.
