Bayern open door to Lewandowski departure

Erling Haaland kicked off the forwards’ summer transfer window by signing for Manchester City. Kylian Mbappé, Robert Lewandowski, Sébastien Haller, Darwin Nuñez, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané or even Romelu Lukaku might also leave their club this summer and ignite the market.

At the end of the contract at Bayern Munich in 2023, Robert Lewandowski wishes to leave the German club this summer according to several concordant sources following being disappointed with the lack of consideration of its leaders. His name has been associated with Barça for several weeks, but Bayern had closed the door until then, publicly repeating that the Pole would stay, even if he did not extend his contract.

Barça ready to seize the opportunity

According to Bild, Bayern are starting to soften their stance and ponder a Lewandowski departure. Bavarian leaders and Lewandowski’s teammates have reportedly noticed the Pole’s annoyance in recent weeks and many are wondering if it’s a good idea to keep him once morest his will. Some would even welcome his departure on a sporting level, believing that the team would be more unpredictable offensively without him.

Also according to the German tabloid, it is now said internally that Bayern might let Lewandowski slip away this summer for 35 or 40 million euros, an amount that Barça would be ready to pay. For that to happen, however, Bayern will need to find a quality replacement for the Pole, which seems to be Bayern’s main difficulty at the moment…
