Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern Munich’s sporting director, didn’t mince words to make it clear that Tottenham striker Harry Kane is not on the Bavarian outfit’s wish list. After the departure of Robert Lewandowski at FC Barcelona, the English international was expected to join Bayern to fill the vacant place of number nine.

However, there haven’t been any concrete offers from Germany and now Salihamidzic has cleared all doubts over Bayern Munich’s interest in Harry Kane. The England international’s contract with Tottenham comes to an end in the summer of 2024 and the prolific striker is yet to renew his contract with the London club.

Nevertheless, Bayern Munich are not in the hunt for the striker as they try to follow in the footsteps of Manchester City and Liverpool who usually play without a trained number 9. “These are rumours. The reigning German champions had to part ways with star Robert Lewandowski following the Poland international forced a departure from the Allianz Arena, but Salihamidzic believes they have enough attacking reinforcements to fill his void. They secured Sadio Mane from Liverpool for a bargain price of €33.5m, and also extended Serge Gnabry’s contract.

“We might substitute four players of almost the same quality for four positions. So much offensive quality is rare in Europe. It is now the job of the coach and his team to moderate this.”said Salihamidzic.
Bayern have loosened their purse strings this summer transfer window and have invested heavily to make quality additions to the squad. They brought in Matthijs de Light from Juventus, Mathys Tel from Rennes, midfielder Ryan Gravenberch and right-back Nousair Mazraoui from Ajax, spending more than 137.5 million euros in transfer fees.
