Bayern Munich fans protest against the colors of the shirt and the defaced shield

The fans of the German club showed their anger against the club’s current kit and exploded at the emblem that the shirt wore on the occasion of Oktoberfest, against Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern Münich fans have united in a massive protest against the current kit and the redesign of the shield carried by the club’s alternative shirt, in honor of the Oktoberfest. Thus, with flags against it and messages that refer to the inviolability of the colors, the fans made it clear that they do not want to have anything to do with either the new shield or the club’s latest shirt designs.

In the last games, the stands displayed flags against the measures and even a giant red and white t-shirt, with a clear motto: “§ 1 The club colors are inviolable” . That message refers to the first paragraph of Bayern Münich’s statute, which states that the club’s official colors are red and white.

Curiously, none of the German team’s four current jerseys carry the official color scheme. Currently, the starting shirt is completely red with some black details, while the alternatives are presented in blue and another in cream. As if this were not enough, in the match against Bayer Leverkusen, Vincent Kompany’s team took to the field with a combined t-shirt in black, gray and with gold details.

That specific shirt also had the shield modified with another font and even another design, removing the traditional stars and layout. At this, the fans exploded and also dedicated banners to him: “No red and white shirt, a disfigured shield, your ‘Mia san mia’ is just a facade!” The phrase “Mia san mia” refers to Bayern’s official motto, which although literally translates to “We are us”, its implication goes beyond claiming “we” over “the others”, but rather claims a personality and way of understanding oneself.

For now, the club did not refer to the controversy, but it is true that, according to the Footy Headlines portal, the 2025/26 season will bring with it the return of the red and white shirts to Bayern Münich. In any case, it remains to be seen if with the alternative shirts they decide to continue tightening the rope with colors outside the team’s official ones.

The similar situation that occurred in River

At the beginning of September, River presented a total change of clothing that not only impacted the colors of the training and concentration clothing, but also the shield itself, with a color palette focused on salmon. This change brought with it great controversy, especially from opposition sectors, which fiercely criticized the decision.

“The statute is very clear regarding what the Club Atlético River Plate shield is like, and what its colors are. It has nothing to do with these salmon/pink tones. If those who make the decisions do not like the colors RED AND WHITE, As is clear day after day, I invite you to found another club. RIVER is not this,” opposition leader Carlos Trillo was able to publish, in reference to the aforementioned clothing.

The Dale River Group, for its part, sent a formal note to the president of River, Jorge Brito, in which they pointed out the importance of respecting the identity of the club in the face of the change in the color palette of the clothing – which even occurred in the burgundy alternative shirt that the Millonario wore against Colo-Colo, for the Copa Libertadores. “The official symbols cannot be altered under any circumstances. Their modification constitutes an unacceptable outrage. We observe with concern the new official clothing, not as fashion critics – a task that is not our responsibility – but because they alter, modify or invert the defined colors and shapes by the Social Statute of our club,” read part of the letter.
