Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel warned his players, on Friday, not to be concerned regarding the partial return of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to team training, on Thursday, following a long period of absence due to injury.
Tuchel said in a press conference on Friday: “It is very good news.” Manuel participated partially. It was not an intense session, and he participated in parts of it. We shouldn’t get caught up in that. “It is just another step.” He added: “Once he participates in training fully, things can develop quickly, but he still has some time to get there.”
Neuer has been absent from the field since suffering a broken leg last December following participating with the German national team in the 2022 World Cup, which was held in Qatar.
Neuer will continue to be absent from the team’s roster in the scheduled match once morest Leipzig (Saturday) in the German League.
On the other hand, Tuchel said that Dayot Upamecano, Kim Min-jae and Thomas Mueller trained on Thursday without suffering from the injuries they recovered from, indicating that if things continue to go well, they may appear in the team formation.
While Matthijs de Ligt and Serge Gnabry continue to be absent from Bayern’s ranks, as De Ligt suffers from a knee injury, Gnabry also suffered an injury to his left arm during the team’s match once morest third-tier team Borussia Münster (last Tuesday) in the German Cup competitions.
Tuchel said regarding Gnabry: “Under normal circumstances, it can be said that he will be absent for a period ranging between 4 and 6 weeks, but it depends on several factors,” and added: “It is a top match in the league. The feeling is different when you have lost the last two matches to the opponent, but revenge is not the right word. We won’t play to win the Super Cup, but it still hurts. “We certainly do not want to suffer another defeat.”
Bayern Munich leads the German League on goal difference ahead of Bayer Leverkusen, while Leipzig ranks fourth, one point behind them.
