After Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui, FC Bayern seems to be trying to find another Ajax professional. According to current media reports, the Munich team is in contact with central defender Jurrien Timber.
The name Timber has been associated with FC Bayern for weeks. As “Sky” reports, Bayern are now serious. Accordingly, Marco Neppe, technical director at FCB, has now held initial talks with the management of the Dutch national player to sound out a possible transfer in the summer.
BVB and Leipzig are also involved
Due to the departure of Niklas Süle in the summer, Bayern are currently exploring the transfer market in search of a successor. The youngster is contractually bound to Ajax until 2024. His current market value is 30 million euros. In addition to Bayern, numerous other clubs are interested in the defender. Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig should also deal with Timber.
Is Timber a suitable candidate for Bayern?
Even if Timber is undoubtedly one of the most promising defensive talents in Europe, the question arises as to whether the 20-year-old is a suitable candidate for Bayern. According to reports, Julian Nagelsmann is looking for a communicative central defender who can take on a leading role in Munich’s defense in the near future. Whether Timber can take on such a role in his early 20s is an open question.
Another sticking point: In the Netherlands reports are circulating that Ajax is not willing to lose a third player to Bayern following Gravenberch and Mazraoui. Mazraoui is available on a free transfer. Gravenberch only has one contract left until 2023. At Timber, however, Amsterdam is under no pressure to sell the central defender next summer.
