Bayern and Freiburg should replay the last few minutes

The bizarre exchange breakdown in the Bundesliga game between FC Bayern and SC Freiburg continues to cause numerous discussions in the Bundesliga. Bayer CEO Rudi Völler has now made a curious suggestion on how to solve the dilemma.

In a guest article for the “kicker” Völler commented on the changeover breakdown and defended the people of Breisgau for the decision to protest once morest the game evaluation: “You can certainly understand this step. Many clubs would have reacted similarly. The 61-year-old considers Freiburg’s actions to be “completely legitimate”.

Völler is committed to the new rule

While fans, media and experts are heatedly discussing whether Bayern are to blame for the breakdown and what the consequences might be, Völler has brought up a curious suggestion. It would therefore be good if the two teams replayed the last minutes of the game: “I know this practice from Italy and I think it is the least bad solution in a case where there is no perfect solution anyway. Repetition from the time of the drastic wrong decision or violation of the rules.

Bayern were 3-1 up in the 86th minute, when they had twelve men on the pitch for 16 seconds. The rules of the DFB do not allow for a “replay” of the last few minutes.

When the DFB sports court will make a final decision is currently still open. A judgment this week cannot be ruled out, but it depends to a large extent on how quickly all those involved in the process get involved in the process.
